Guest guest
Joyce and Karima and everyone, my mom made it through her surgery very well. It was about 2 and a half hours! Her awesome doctor was able to remove the large tumor in her rectum and reattach everything so there's no colostomy. He said he could not find anything else in the colon or elsewhere, but they would check the lymph nodes and tumor for cancer (the biopsy was benign, but he feels it is malignant and in her earlier tests nothing had spread to her lungs or liver). He said she might need chemo or radiation later. But for now, her oxygen blood level is very good and her blood pressure and other signs are good. She's going to be in the CCU until at least Saturday as a precaution. They have these inflatable air things on her legs as she had a blood clot after gall bladder surgery 3 years ago. She is in alot of pain, but talking coherently and going in and out of sleep. But this is all great news for her, the day went much better than we had imagined. They are going to get her out of bed tomorrow. Will keep you posted, thanks for your concern. ~~Dianna
