Winter solstice! and now Christmas time!

Yesterday evening at 6.47 p.m. was when our part of the globe was the furthest away from the sun – it was the turning point, also known as the winter solstice, from there on, we get a little closer to the sun, and get a little more (or a little closer to) light and warmth for each day. It may be a month or two before that actually gets very noticeable... But the turning point was then. True to our tradition and I made a toast to the coming light and warmth at the exact time of the turning point. NOT true to our tradition, we made the toast in mexicola (tequila, cola and lime) – because I had a stressful day and forgot to buy sparkling wine (which we usually toast in...). But, well, Mexico is a place with a lot of sun, right?, so Mexicola shouldn't be all that wrong for a toast to the sun...Today we'll both work as usual, but tonight we'll go out for dinner, and that will mark the beginning of the Christmas holiday for us. Looking forward to some well deserved rest. And speaking of Christmas, we tried a "rosé glögg" (glögg – the spiced wine drink usually served hot, associated with Christmas in Sweden – made from rosé wine) the weekend before last. No one have ever made rosé glögg before, or at least no one have ever sold it before. The traditional glögg is based on red wine, white wine glögg has been around for a while, but is not exactly considered the original glögg (tasty as it may be, as an alternative). So when we saw rosé glögg our reaction was like "That is so utterly bizarre, that it just has to be tried". And said (paraphrasing Cinderella in the Disney Christmas special always broadcasted on Christmas eve in Sweden): "Well...what's a glögg in rosé...it may be, absolutely, absolutely...horrible" (the Cinderella line goes: "Well...what is a ball at the palace...it may be really boring or...it may be, absolutely, absolutely... wonderful"). Horrible it wasn't. But perhaps not wonderful either. It wasn't at it's best warm, and not ice cold either, but room temperatured it was quite acceptable...Here's part of the Cinderella clip showed every Christmas in Sweden:

I don't think there is a single (adult) Swede who can't lip sync to every line in that, as well as in the other Disney clips in "From All of Us to All of You" (in Swedish: "Kalle Anka och hans vänner önskar god jul", literally: " Duck and his friends wishing [you] a Merry Christmas"). This really is Christmas to a Swede... From 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. this is what goes on in a Swedish house on Christmas Eve...love/RebP.S.
