Guest guest
Hi , I'm a physical therapist in the Boston area. I haven't as yet come across any MD's doing resurfacing in the Boston area. I've had one patient go down to Dr. Mont in Baltimore for his surgery and another who's deciding on Dr. Mont or heading off to Belgium. I would think in the next year it should catch on with some Boston surgeons. Good luck! Tim Fagerson L. Guest guest
Tim, thanks for response. Since I wrote the group email, I've called all area hospitals and found at least three doctors in the area whose receptionists say they do hip resurfacing -- judging from lack of surfacehippy response re my initial question, doesn't sound like they've done too many cases or maybe their patients are just so happy they haven't went looking for information...... Can you give me more info on Dr. Mont: Hospital, etc? Thanks. Re: Boston area surfacehippy Surgeons????? Hi , I'm a physical therapist in the Boston area. Guest guest
Caveat here --- the original resurfacing from ages ago (uses poly components and fails within 5 years due to all the debris generated by the larger head) is still an approved implant. A few months back some people found that there are surgeons who will give you this implant and do (justifiably) call it resurfacing. Others have been found that somewhat inaccurately refer to doing hemi-resurfacings as 'resurfacings'. Please get to know your components before hopping on anyone's bandwagon. The implants that are in trial have only a few orthos and these are pretty well known. -- J On 02/26/2003 11:03:41 am " & Cottrell " wrote: >Tim, thanks for response. Guest guest
: You can reach Dr. Mont at: Center for Joint Preservation and Reconstruction Sinai Hospital of Baltimore 2401 West Belvedere Avenue Baltimore, MD. 21215 His assistant's name is Colleen. The miracle working insurance person is (who got me approved with no hassle). To start the ball rolling, they no doubt need X-Rays first, then they will send you a jumbo info packet and put you on their surgery schedule. I am scheduled for surgery there (yippee!) on March 27th. There are many people on this site who have used Dr. Mont already and can help you out if you request it. Capt. Amazo is a good person to ask for information from (Hi Capt!). Good luck! (Don't wait too long, hips tend to go fast when the pain starts....they're talking to you now!)
