How much T4 (Synthroid) are you you taking?

racing/palps that come and go. Upon reading my most recent labwork (11/09)he

wants to put me on biodentical hormones (small dose) as my testosterone is way

low from normal as well as my estrogen and progesterone. He also wants to keep

me on Cytomel (25 mgs a day) along with Synthroid (T4) as he says my T4 is too

low. Would love someones opinion on this. Lab work below

T4Free 0.5 L (0.8-1.8ng/dL)

T3Free 226 L (230-420 pg/dL)

T3,Reverse 10 L (11-32 ng/dL)

How long have you been on T3 onyl and how muchy are yo taking? Is your ferritin

ok? Low ferritin seems to have a huge role in hair loss. But i agree

testosterone will also affect it. I do NOYT agree your T4 is too low what is

really lwo is you r T3. With T4 supressed and T3 this low I am not sure how you

are functioning.

Right now...none. I'm suppose to start on it today. He's giving me a very

small dose (50 mcg)to take with the Cytomel.

I have been on Cytomel for about 3 to 4 months. I tried to up my dose but my

current doc would prescrib anymore than 30 for each month. He said I can't go by

what others do, that I'm sensitive to drugs and I have to take it slow and easy

(he's right about my being drug sensitive). So I am back to taking 25 mgs. once

a day.

My ferritin tested okay on 11/13/09 at 102.

So with my T4/T3 this low, what would you do?

" He's giving me a very small dose (50 mcg)to take with the Cytomel. "

Actually this is NOT a small dose. Think about it this way, in one grain of

natural thyroid there is only 38mcg T4.

T4Free 0.5 L (0.8-1.8ng/dL)

T3Free 226 L (230-420 pg/dL)

T3,Reverse 10 L (11-32 ng/dL)

Thyroglubulin Antibodies 22 H <20

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibo. 232 H <35

How long have you been on T3 onyl? Is your Ferritin at a good level and

are your adrnelas supported or working well? Before adding T4 back in

you shoudl have been on a good dose of T3 for at least 12 weeks, and we

would HOPE oyur RT3 at that point is WAY below range to undetectable.

Your Free T3 is too low to have supresse the RT3 productoion enough, so

I owuld stay on JUST T3 until you have good levels which would mean ot

me at least 400-500 on a FT3 lab. If oyur ferritin si stil low oyu DO

NOT want to reintroduce T4 at this point, it wil go straight into RT3.,

If adrenals are not right your T4 woudl fgo straight into Rt3 and then

crash your adrenals worse. Stayingon JUST T3 is the best wy to avoid the

possible issues but you need good ferritn and good coritls to get enough

T3 ot feel well.

I am on 30 mcgs of HC daily....(10mcgs at 8, 10mcgs at 12, 5 at 4 and 5 at 8)

Have been on Cytomel for over 2 months...almost 3.

My ferritin (when checked in November (11/13/09)was 102. How do I increase the

cytomel? I tried that (slowly) back about three weeks ago and got up to 50

going on 75 and ran out. That was when I found out the doc didn't want to

increase my doseage so I was left without Cytomel for about 5 days until the doc

would prescrib me more. Plus, what does it mean when you start feeling pressure

around your heart. I started feeling pressure when I got up that high and some

shakiness. Any thoughts?

My sleep has greatly improved within the past few weeks but my temps continue to

run low. I'm so confused. BEcause my sex hormones are so messed up its hard for

me to figure what symptoms are caused by what. Also....before I went on

cytomel, my T3 free was 243 and dropped to 226 after I got on the straight T3

(cytomel). Isn't that good?

Im post menopausal. New doc is giving me bioidentical hormones as my

testosterone is unidentifiable on my labwork from this last November.

He's also prescribed progesterone and estradiol replacement.

Can any of this have an effect on my thyroid?
