Guest guest
It works for the US Marine Corps, the US Navy, The US Air Force, and the US Army (and the Reserve and Guard, GO ARMY!) and even the less glamorous US Coast Gaurd, so why not. We need some motivated folks to be injected into the system, and maybe this aproach will yield some fruit. Of course we all know that at best advertising has some truth, I see no difference here. I operate a part-time videography business, and could do something similar, given the resources of people, equipment, and time (not to mention some real money to use copyrighted music). Botom line, how much stuff is on your belt? hehe Sudik LP VideoWorks Digital Productions

Guest guest
What if the oxygen wrench wasn't on the key ring, but in the pocket? Does that take one to semi-wanker status? Guest guest
I think the " Texas Version " could be a little more realistic while keeping the modern, action packed nature. We are still loosing more EMS personnel than we are producing. I also agree that we must recruit quality if we are to fix the retention issue. There are plenty of agencies that spend large sums of money on recruiting at a national level with marginal success. I see no reason why these agencies would not be more than willing to contribute to the cost of the project. Dr. B, what kind of cash are we talking about? $50K, $300K? I've never done a TV commercial. I would be more than willing to bring it up while here at GETAC... Curtis Mc EMT-P Re: EMS Recruitment Video I share Dr. Bledsoe's observation that the video is a mixed bag. I have serious reservations about appealing to mindless purient interests in order to fill our ranks. Of course, the biggest problem I have with such a thing in Texas is that I don't see us as having such a serious problem to begin with. Certainly not on the order of Pittsburgh, where the video originated. Look at the numbers of personnel certified through DSHS. Anybody seen an EMT class that was cancelled for lack of interest lately? Nope. We're turning out plenty of wankers. The problem is not in recruitment. The problem is in retention. And if we continue to recruit based upon a lie, the retention problem will forever plague the system. It's nothing more than the proverbial bandaid on the arterial bleed to feed a revolving door. Fix the system. Recruitment and retention will then take care of itself. Rob

Guest guest
The cost depends on the quality. Using a 3-chip camera and professional editing you can get out under $15,000 for several good, but similar 30 second pieces. BEB E. Guest guest
I have three-chip cameras, and a up-to-date editing suite. I would also be willing to work pro-bono (sp) given certain resources. We just need a solid cast.... Re: EMS Recruitment Video > > I share Dr. Bledsoe's observation that the video is a mixed bag. Guest guest
The problem here in far west Texas is we can't get any classes. We have several people who want to take classes but we can't get anyone to coordinate and commit to teaching the class. Any ideas? Guest guest
Might be something worth pursuing. There was another videographer on the list--not sure what sort of equipment he has. E.
