Amy,What I've noticed is that some people respond to me differently.People who have seen me for years, comment I'm younger looking . I get lots of positive feedback, questions about if I'm running?,or directly about the diet. There is only one person I know of that went low carb(P.P.),the rest talk of getting the book. Maybe my confidence has grown a little too, hard not to with all the comments about how they are amazed at my fortitude. Or maybe it's in the type of clothing I wear now, couldn't find these types of outfits in an 18. Maybe you are feeling apprehensive with the changes in your own attitude. As you say, maybe you are coming out of your shell. Are you worried about the attention focused on you? What sort of feedback do you get from your family? My DH occasionally makes comments that I'll have to trade him in,with my new look and attitude. I don't think it's that,I think it' new found energy and zest for life. It's self-care ,I didn't much care before. I'm giving myself permission to do things I denied myself before, getting haircuts @ an expensive salon, getting a pedicure, buying clothes for ME. I 've also raised the BAR of my expectations of family members,I insist they do their stuff, and no longer pick up after them,I don't just mean their clothes either. I hope you find the source of your fear, can't deal with it unless you can name it. In support,

I know what you mean about the " trade-in " discussion. Only thing is the

tables are turned on me. DH has lost 30 lbs. and I have gained it (all in

my thighs and butt)!

DH has dropped at least 2, maybe 3 sizes and really looks good. He has new

glasses that are very contemporary looking with salt & pepper hair. He has

even let me put some J Crew in his hair lately. I don't know what

possessed him to start losing the weight, but I hope he keeps it up.

No way will I trade him in...he's mine!

Susie

oh ur daffydills are big! I live in SE Mich and mine and my tulips are only about 3 inches high. As for the L- Caritine I try to take 2000 mg a day, when I dont forget, u shud take it on an empty stomach, i try to take 1000 in the morn and 1000 at night, i usually forget to take the nights till after i have eaten or drank my protein drink :( and idealy you should take it 1/2 b4 exercise. Dont know about u being scared, I dont think i would be, but when I get down to a 14 ill let u know!! :-) Actually maybe its fear of gaining weight back?

Hi everyone! Sunshiney finally in NE Ohio. Saw some Robins the other day and some of my daffydills have buds. . . 2 questions please. 1. What is correct/optimal dose of l-carnitine?

2. Has anyone else felt scared once they really began seeing results?

Reason I ask is this: today, went thru my closet and put on a pair of size 14's jeans that I haven't been able to wear for over 6 years (since I was pregnant). They did fit looser then, I think but they don't look bad now, not too tight or anything. I should be turning cartwheels & I AM excitied, but also starting to get frightened. I can't put my finger quite on why I am scared, but I am. I think maybe it has to do with coming out of my shell, so to speak and maybe a fear of becoming more attractive? I don't know. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? If so, how to deal with it?

Amy Please

, I really think those are good observations on your part - it is almost like an "I'm not worthy" feeling when overweight - not worthy of nice clothes, haircuts, being assertive. It also seems like we tend to think that "As soon as I am at my goal weight, all my problems will be solved". Then, when you get closer to goal, those problems just haven't vaporized like they should have. We have to change our picture of ourselves in order to deal with these feelings. - just my 2 cents - Chris
