Colds are viruses. Antibiotics do nothing to viruses. Antibiotics are

only needed for a bacterial infection. Some echinacea and goldenseal may

make you feel better more quickly...

Thanks ,

I wasn's sure if a sinus problem could be a bacterial infection. I

think maybe I just have to wait this thing out. Right?

Certainly a baterial infection can be involved, but I think that any

medical advice on this board regarding an individuals disease state

is dangerous. If you are concerned, check with a family physician

or the like.

the laryngitis could be bacterial - I would ask your doctor.

Lynda, I wrote to Dr. De Smet and asked if we should be worried about

every cold and infection. His response was that bacterial infections

are very rare, so not to worry. He also does not sound like an

advocate of antibiotics in general. Hope this eases your mind

although by now, I'm sure you're feeling better anyway. Best, Donna

Hi Sweetheart!

I wish I were feeling better, it may take a little more time this

bug is a doosey and it has really knocked me out! My voice still

sound like an animal caught in a trap.

Thanks for writing the good doctor, I value what he says. I wasn't

going to take any antibiotics until I read where someone posted that

the laryngitis could be bacterial.

Forgive me if I gross you out, but when the mucus is army green is

it necessarily a bacterial infection? Does this ever happen to

people and it not be an infection? Is there such a thing as

a 'normal' infection and a 'bacterial' infection? Or are they the

same thing?

Anyway, I got scared and I am now on Augmentin 875mg 2 x's daily

whether I need it or not.

It is amazing how the Dr.s just prescribe this suff like it's M & Ms.

How are you? I wanted to tell you I bought some really great tapes

on Pilates by Mari Winsor, she is from L.A. She reminds me so much

of you! A blonde you! HA!HA! Whe walks and talks and has the same

body language as you (Randy thought so too!). Is it an LA thing???

Hi Lynda! I hope this is a compliment. My interest is piqued; now

I'll have to check her out. I'll also let you know if it's an LA

thing :-)....ahhh Vanity. PS to clarify Koen's stand on

antibiotics...he just doesn't like you to use it for every sniffle

and scratch...only when it is really needed, ie., surgeries and

serious infections. Hope you're feeling better. Donna
