Had my first A/C treatment Tues . Jan 3rd!

Hi-I only have 4 treatments to take -every other week , last one

Valentines day! The whole procedure was nothing really-just draining

emotionally. I felt terrible tho by 10pm that night , feeling sick .

etc . I was given 3 diff types of anti nauseau pills. They really

didnt really kick in 'till today tho. I was very restless first night

up and down all night.. just feeling out of sorts, was told that was

normal. went back next day for neualasta shot. and 2nd night same

thing. Last night I slept all night pure exhaustion I guess!I have

been feeling just tired for the most part and have that funny taste in

my mouth.. nothing taste right. I am going to call next week to look

at wigs.. was told would need one soon that it will fall out! I have

terrific friends and of course family who have been a big help. I look

to this message board everyday for support also and will keep u posted

-Hi, I was given Emend at the Dr office as soon as chemo was done.

tripack was told to take that once a day until done (3 total)and

then something called dexamethasone(4 mg) I had to take 1 tab 2 xs

a day for 3 days (last one tonight at dinner) and then the 3rd one

was to take as needed (name much to long to type ) which I have been

taking at bedtime if I feel quesy. I plan on telling Dr next week

when I go for a follow up . They say they make changes if they dont

work. I am not miserable, but its bothersome because b4 all this I

was always healthy and never get sick.

I know what you mean Sue. I've rarely been sick and always up and on the go. The way I've felt the last 2 treatments, well, they really hit me hard. I don't like being sick and/or down. I'm used to being healthy and able to do what I need to do every day. To be down for 5 days every 3 weeks sucks.

I have 4 more to go only they're switching me to Taxol for the remaining 4 which I think is pretty standard. Again, everyone is different but most people have less problems with Taxol than with the AC. I only hope I'm in the "most" people category. And I have to say, I probably didn't get near as sick as some people do with AC and it was awful.

I don't think I told every one here but I had to have my medi port removed. There was an infection at the incision sight where they installed it and it got sore and infected. They removed it last Monday, no sedation, just numbed the area. I will never, ever let anyone put me through that again. From no on sedate me or don't do it. I don't deal well with needles and I'm even worse about having someone poke and prod my insides while I'm awake. My husband was out of town and I didn't have a way home. Next week they are putting in a PIC line and I called yesterday and told them I wanted to be sedated, period. My husband will take me there and take me home.

Oh, and to top it all off, now I have a terrible sore throat and head cold. See, I had to go on these antibiotics to try and get rid of the infection and I couldn't take my vitamins and herbs at the same time I took the medicine, so I kept forgetting to take them, and I got sick. :-(

Thanks nne. I am so tired of sneezing and sniffling. I've been taking Tylenol sore throat and cold medicine and it helps. It makes me sleepy too so I get plenty of rest, LOL.

Oh, and to top it all off, now I have a terrible sore throat and head cold. See, I had to go on these antibiotics to try and get rid of the infection and I couldn't take my vitamins and herbs at the same time I took the medicine, so I kept forgetting to take them, and I got sick. :-(

I'm with you June. I'm not doing well with this sick thing either. I was totally down from Thursday (chemo day) to Tuesday afternoon. I had absolutely no energy. I only have one treatment left. I'm more excited about getting this done and over with than I was when I was pregnant and hospitalized for two weeks at the end before I had my child.

Chemo still sucks but the good thing is that it ENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
