I have a horrible time with my memory. I can tell you things I did as a child but don't ask me what I did yesterday. I know as we get older that can cause problems but I was 44 when I had my surgery and am now 60. I have had chemo brain for most of the 15 yrs. Before bc I had a great memory.

memory and focus issues

...I saw your reference to memory problems when you wrote about your interests. Has anyone else noticed their inability to concentrate and focus and remember stuff?

I can hardly get through a magazine article. I really wanted to get some reading done but that is next to impossible.

Well this has really tested me nne. We went shopping yesterday and I left my purse a couple of times. Thankfully hubby has me figured out and kept up with my purse and other stuff. I finally quit carrying it in the stores for fear I'd lose it if I got separated from him and he wasn't there to see me put it down.

I haven't had a very good short term memory for several years now. I keep asking at work if I can get a new chip but they say that isn't in the budget. Oh well...the surgeon wouldn't do an implant either.

Thank goodness I can still read. It's like breathing to me. I admit that if anyone is making noise while I'm reading I get confused and have to read a paragraph over again but, if it get to the point where I can't enjoy my books I'll be very sad and put out.

I too have the same problems. I love to read and can't through one chapter in a book, I can't go shopping, it does not take long for me to feel overwhemled and tired. I have not cleaned my house in one day like I used, I just get to tired. My husband won't help. I was telling a girl I used to work with about everyone in my house will not pick up after themselves, where they put, it stays. She told me to stop doing it. So I did, my husband made the statement that the house was looking cluttered. & nne Svihlik wrote:

Prior to chemo, I was an avid reader - used to read a couple of books a week. Since chemo, (ended 5 years ago), I doubt that I've read 5 books - simply can't concentrate. Also, can't sit still through movies, or most television shows, my short term memory is laughable. Can't concentrate, can't remember, oh well, at least everything is new to me! Actually, I hate aspects of this - especially not reading - I loved to read. Ann Chemo Hats: www.cjhats.com
