Guest guest
you should be very careful not to conceibe a baby during the first six months at least. (because of the i-131) about sleeping in the same bed they advice not to do it for the firsts weeks but i reeally think you nuclear medicine doctor must tell you that data. good look and don't feel blue~! Post RAI - I need advise! I am afraid the docs are pretty conservative about post RAI. What about sleeping in the same bed with hasband after I get home. Someone told me to wait a month or more. Is this necessary? What has everyone else done about clothing, cooking meals for family, etc.? Guest guest
Carol, The advice I received from my doctor after RAI included: - no bed sharing, kissing, or handling other people's food or eating utensils for 7 days (if you're the family's chief cook and dishwasher, invest in a box of disposable gloves) - no close contact with pregnant -- or possibly pregnant -- women or infants for 14 days (ok to be in the same room, but no closer than about 8-10') - don't handle the dog's food and water bowls without gloves or allow the dog near your neck for 7 days These timelines are from the date of RAI administration, so if you spend a few days in the hospital the durations are shorter once you get home. Some doctors prescribe much shorter durations, but I figured it was better to be safe than sorry. Your hospital will probably send you home with written guidelines; if they don't offer, ask for them! Hope this helps, ellen -- mailto:ellen@...
