Guest guest
Barb, there ARE certified people and there are programs. Are you talking about people certified to teach ASL?Are you talking about PA only? Let me think about this and get some names for you. pam > ---------- > From: CHARGE on behalf of barbzwires@... > Reply To: CHARGE > Sent: Monday, April 24, 2006 8:20 AM > To: charge > Subject: ASL certification > > Hi all- > We just had 's IEP and all went well. My question relates to ASL teachers. Does anyone know of an accredited collage program for teacher certification? The state of PA will count ASL as a foreign language for students if taught by a certified teacher. BUT there are no certified teachers... At least that is what I've been told. Guest guest
Ok, so I thought I could be more helpful than I am in actuality!!! Most places have training programs as the woman from Texas suggested (usually based in Univ.; ours, for example, are " hosted " by NorthEastern Univ, Northern Essex Community College, and BU). I can't find yours!!! BUT....if you call (and you may have already done this) your local Deaf Services/Interpreter Referral Bureau they can get you what you need. Those agencies hire only certified interpreters so they will know the connection to the training programs and you can get the rest. So...hope this is somewhat helpful!!! pam > ---------- > From: CHARGE on behalf of barbzwires@... > Reply To: CHARGE > Sent: Monday, April 24, 2006 2:15 PM > To: CHARGE > Subject: RE: ASL certification > > Thanks Pam-Yes PA only... > Barb > > --------- ASL certification > > > > > > Hi all- > > > We just had 's IEP and all went well.
