I was sleeping on my unoperated side within three days of my operation,

which was done by Koen de Smet in Belgium. It was only about a week later

that I was also able to lie on my operated side without any adverse effects.

Subject: The BIG Sleep Question.....

My question concerns SLEEP. I know several people with THR and

they all say that they must sleep on their backs for about 6 weeks,

though some venture to incisionless side sooner. I am NOT a back

sleeper and have to be soooo exhausted in order to sleep that

way. Normally I am a side sleeper. I know I'll be needed my

rest after surgery, so have any of you resurfs slept on your side as

soon as you were released from the hospital? I know I'd be OK on

my side with a pillow between the knees to prevent leg

slipping...that I can do.

Any stories out there? Any brave souls who dared to side sleep

ASAP? How quickly did you get there?
