Guest guest
I know this may not be appropriate but I've read your responses for 4 days without so much as a maybe in response for our need for help. Pecos Volunteer Ambulance Service Inc. is a service in far West Texas. We cover 2636 square miles. Yes our county is sparsely populated, only 15,000 people. The only town of any size is Pecos, only 8500 people. A little history, PVAS has been around at least 30 years. It started a totally volunteer service, however we became compensated volunteers a few years into our existence. Hey they got 1 dollar an hour to be on call. I started with PVAS in 1992 at 2 dollars an hour for on call time. When I was voted in, thats right, its not enough to be certified you have to go through a voting process to even get to reserve status. In 1992 we had 31 members, today we have 12. We have 5 paramedics, 3 intermediates and 4 basics. Every day we have 3 trucks ready to roll, 2 MICU'S AND 1 ALS, and guess what, we run our own jaws unit. Today we get 4 dollars an hour for on call time. Thats 96 dollars for 24, we agonized over putting out the request for help. We know our deal sucks and we tried to make it a little more appealing to get someone to come in a few days a month. Man we missed the boat on this one. Just so you know, we run about 1200 calls a year. I have never been more disappointed in a group of people in my life than I am in the people who had the nerve to bitch about our offer. If you dont like it shut up, if you want ot help call me. If you just feel the need to voice your narrow minded money driven opinion call me, I'll listen. If your interested, we do have workmans comp, yes you are responsible for your taxes but so are we. Gimme a freaking break and quit the mouthing about things you dont know.
