Barb in PA,

I recently had a conversation with my own EP, asking him to define

these terms, because they are confusing. He told me, you are in

paroxsysmal(Sp?) afib because you always convert on your own,in and

out of NSR, with or without the help of antiarrythmics. We use the

terms chronic and permanent to describe someone who is in afib 24/7

and who we cannot convert to NSR even with cardioversion. Persistent

describes a patient who is in afib most of the time, but can still be

converted with cardioversion.

I hope I am accurately reporting what he said. Sounds like you are

definitely in the paroxsysmal group.

As I learn more and more from this site I am becoming more

Good going Barb. This site has really helped me by showing how other

people are coping. Some stories make my problems appear pretty damn

small by comparison. Just keep on posting and asking questions as

they come up. And I feel much better calling you by your name.

Thanks.
