Guest guest
Hi , My daughter is in the 5th grade. When she was in the 4th grade she had a mild hearing loss in one ear (no hearing in the other), over 4th grade she rapidly lost the rest of her hearing and had a ci. In March of 4th grade she started with c-print. Luckily she is a good reader and was used to captioning. The school initally fought giving this to her, but it was the only way for her to access information.I believe she is one of the youngest kids to get it. She still has it now in the 5th grade and it is wonderful. She does well with her implant, but is always complaining of the background noise in the classroom. With c-print she does not miss any information and had notes to bring home. Next year she wil have 5 teachers for main subjects so I plan on keeping it next year also. The captionist says that she types everything that is said, both by the teacher and also by the students during discussions. She only summerizes the notes that are sent home - otherwise there would be a million pages. The notes are great because than I can see what they are working on and review it with her. Hope this helps, let me know if you need any more information.

Guest guest
HI, Yes, my son has used Typewell for the past three years and is now transitioning to High School with it. He has maintained his honors student status and been able to stay connected socially due in part to this service. He is deaf in his rt ear and severe to profound in his left. Getting this up and running was not an easy task but it has been worth it. Typewell has a web site with all the information about it as a system. Typwell.com. Feel free to e-mail me at vrnwallace@....
Guest guest
, Unfortunately we're in the same place you are. Our son is about to start high school and we've brought up having CART services for him. For now, we'll be getting a laptop for him to take notes on. CART has been discussed but for now it is not needed. In my opinion, it will be needed in another year or so, but they won't give it to ian just yet. One school district is bucking at the idea and I want to gather some info on others who are using it successfully. Does anyone on the list have a child who uses it?
