Guest guest
Hi Rose Marie, Hope you got my earlier post. I forgot to change the subject line. Thanks for the info. I agree - prioritizing is the answer. Pick your battles carefully - right. Anyway, just wanted to say hi to a fellow northwesterner. I use to live north of Seattle for years until we moved to WI. North Bend is a beautiful area. I miss the mountains, but not the rain that Seattle and north get. Have a good day, Marsha > Jaclyn; > > You asked about my daughter's g-i issues. > > The ones I referred to that have been plaguing my daughter are 1) reflux and 2) slow intestinal motility. Her reflux was well controlled before the diet on Prilosec. Going generic did indeed alter the medications formula, despite manufacturer claims, and it was no longer effective; took us several months to work around to Nexium and things in the reflux dept. are fine again. The one that's getting us is the slow gut motility. She doesn't send food through her intestines at a normal speed, and fat is known to slow things down even more. For her, this means that huge volumes of gas (most likely from a mild soy intolerance she has, and her keto formula is soy based) sit unmoving in her gut and cause extreme pain. > > Thankfully, these issues aren't widespread among kids on the keto diet. They are just kind of overwhelming at our house. Several people on our list have used digestive enzymes to address the difficulties digesting fat; I couldn't get our keto team to agree to let us try them. Since don't plan on staying on the diet, it's not a battle I feel worth fighting. When a parent deals with major medical issues from head to toe, you have to prioritize how you spend your energy! > > Rose-Marie, > wife to Don, > mom to (8 year old, RS), > and Becky (age 6), > North Bend, WA USA > >
