Guest guest
, Thanks for the great advice. I talked with 's dietician yesterday and we put him back on the 3:1 ratio and lowered the calories. He has not thrown up since Tuesday night (yeah!), but has had some seizures. Although I hate to see the seizures come back, I am confident that if we take it slowly this time there may eventually be seizure control again, and this time without vomiting! Thanks again, ' and Ps You asked about increasing the Polycose. Yes, she increased it from 9gms a day, then to 12gms a day and now we're at 14gm a day. We started at 3.5:1 and now we're at 3:1. Re: keto moms-vomiting I think you will never know whats up making the changes too quick. I would be tempted to go back down to 3:1, on the RCF and leave it there for two weeks if the vomitting stops. But I wouldn't let him vomit for two weeks. If he keeps vomitting for a week, I would say the RCF is the problem. And if so, shouldn;t that make it easier for your insurance to pick up the tab for Ketocal if he's allergic to the only alternative?? If the vomitting stops at 3:1 but you don't like the ratio, move him up to 3.25:1. And leave him there for at least two weeks. Actually I think it should be longer but waiting can be sooo hard. But each ratio change is a metabolic change and it takes time for the body to adjust I was wondering, when dietican increased polycose (thats the carb component, right?), did she change ratio again? Dietican can suggest changes, but remember, you ultimatley decide whether to implement. I would simply politely but firmly state my reasons for insisting on going slower with changes.
