Guest guest
> Dear A-Fibbers, > Read all about it at: > > http://www.prorhythm.com > > - OU alum in MI > ................................................... The web site states " It is anticipated that commercialization of the HIFU system in Europe will follow the successful completion of the EU trial late in 2004 " . This EP field is evolving so fast it's hard to keep up with all the new devices and drugs being investigated. A thought that I'm having is are hospital and medical centers going to want to give up their current radio frequency systems because of the costs involved in setting them up to switch to another technology? My local hospital just invested millions in a state of art EP lab with all the latest RF and imaging technology available today. When all these other technologies come on line will they be willing to scrape their current set up to spend $$$$ more to go with either cyro, microwave or ultrasound? I think RF is here to stay for quite awhile until the debate is finally over as to which energy source will bring the biggest bang for the buck with the best results for the patient. Even more reason, for me, to hold out on an PVI for as long as possible. Although I'm sure the people who've had successful procedures and living AFIB and drug free are quite happy with the radiofrequency technology and would do it again. Unfortunately we don't hear too much on this board about the unsucessful procedures. P <MI>
