Guest guest
Hi Holly, I can't remember exactly how old was when we went down to 12 hours. We were having some problems though, her one foot was way over corrected and not turning back to neutral like the other one was starting to. She was dragging her foot a lot also when she walked behind her walker toy, so she must have been around 14 or 15 months old. She probably was only at the 14-16 hours a day stage for about 5 months total because of this and then we had to adjust the one shoe on the bar inward a little and decrease her use of the brace down to 12 hours. After we did this, she had no problems and her foot reacted really well. We stayed at 12 hours for about another year and 9 months and never had any problems with anything after that. Dr. Ponseti wants me to send pictures in 6 months, but my husband and I want to take a trip out to Iowa sometime this summer just to make sure things are going well without the brace. By the sounds of it we are planning possibly around the same time (June or maybe July) so I'll let you know as it gets closer and maybe we can meet up again! Thanks for the congrats! Holly and Re: is brace free! >Holly, > >Much congratulations to you and !!! I bet you (and of course >) feel so free! Guest guest
Dear Holly, Jordan is doing very well, thank you for asking. Just the other day at his preschool one of the four year olds said to me, " Jordan is a really fast runner. " So, of course, I was happy to hear that comment. He'll be three in April, and we've been done with the brace since he was two. I considered us very lucky to be finished as soon as we were. I really hated messing with that thing every night; but, oh, how I loved the results the brace, Dr. Ponseti, and Dr. Colburn brought our way! Take care, great to hear 's doing so well!!!! Guest guest
Holly- My relatives are the same way. Some people just don't understand unless they have researched the Ponseti Method. The DBB hasn't really bothered me either except when he was in it 23hrs a day. That took alot of adjusting for me not so much for him. 16hrs seemed like a breeze compared to the 23hrs and now 12hrs seems almost non-existant. The best thing to me about the 12hrs is I feel like I'm no longer a slave to the clock;) > " >Reply-To: nosurgery4clubfoot >To: nosurgery4clubfoot >Subject: Re: is brace free! >Date: Sat, 22 Feb 2003 16:31:51 -0000 > >, > >Thanks for showing me that there is light at the end of the tunnel. >Actually, I'm not overly anxious to go down to 12 hours a day (of >course we'll celebrate when it comes time for that, but we're okay >right where we are too). Guest guest
Dear , Jordan stopped wearing the FAB when he turned two. Dr. Colburn had seen no evidence whatsoever of Achilles tightening, feet twisting on edge, etc. Dr. P checked Jordan this past March and concurred with Dr. Colburn's decision to terminate the use of the FAB. I have never been too concerned about his feet regressing since Dr. Colburn never seems to see anything suspicious. Isn't he a great doc?!
