Wow ,

What an ordeal you went through. I can TOTALLY relate to you. I had major

complications from surgery as well, and it took me 2 years to NOT regret the

surgery.

I KNOW how you must have felt when you found out you were pregnant. Scared as

anything right? So was I, but fortunately after a couple of scares at the

beginning, my body took this pregnancy well.

Regarding your doctor not being familiar with WLS, I would have your surgeon get

in contact with your OB. They can be of much help. Now I dont know how your

relationship is with your surgeon, my relationship with mine wasnt very good

when I found out I was pregnant because of the complications that I had, and his

lack of wanting to admit they were due to the surgery (for me it was a no

brainer) but my OB was able to call and speak with the nurse there and get some

advice as how to proceed with me. I'm sure they put you on prenatals, and

supplements, and just make sure they stay on top of your labs. My OB did

frequent ultrasounds in the beginning of the pregnancy, actually pretty much all

the way through so far, to make sure the baby was growing properly. So these

are just a few things you might want to suggest to your OB.

Welcome to the group, and congrats on the pregnancy, and keep us posted!!! Take

care.

new to the group

Hello everyone!

I am new to the group. I had a RNY 6/26/01 and had a lot of

complications. I almost died twice and was in the hospital for over a

month. I was sick for almost a year. I just turned 26 and found out

today that I am pregnant. I am very nervous because of all of the

complications I have had and the fact that my doctor knows nothing

about WLS. Any help you can give would be apprechiated. Thank you

Hello everyone!

My name is Jana and I live in Tulsa, OK. I had a RNY Gastric Bypass on April

2nd of this year. I am now 14 wks pregnant and scared out of my mind. I got

my labs done last month and they were fine but I have had really severe

morning sickness. Phenergan didn't do the trick but I am now on Zofran and I

can eat again! I have lost 90 lbs so far and imagine I'll still lose

throughout my pregnancy. I'm good about taking my prenatal vitamins and

eating healthy, but have so many questions and concerns. Any advice anyone

can give would be so appreciated!!!!

Thanks,

Jana :)

Dear Lee,

One of the reasons I am in THIS group is that other WLS patients from other

ossgyahoogroups seem to be so resentful of women with children. Please

remember that many WLS patients have never been married or never had any

children. G-d forgive me for criticizing them for their bad fortune.

However, they can be extremely critical of women with children. It sounds

like your group is doing that to you, and you must remember that they look at

you and perceive you to be so lucky for already having kids........

Many of the WLS groups are dominated by single women with no children who

constantly discuss their weekend athletic activities, their dinner plans with

other people and what they have planned for the next week. I am glad they

are making good use of their time and enjoying life. However, they are

unwilling to realize that other WLS patients have different outlooks on life

due to different circumstances.

I would still rather hear nasty comments from people like that RATHER THAN be

a person like that! I would not trade places with them for anything in the

world. We just have to " grin and bear it " and realize how unfortunate they

are and how lucky we are.....

Take care,

Shoshannah
