Guest guest
Hey Rhonda- Thanks for the well wishes! I had my resection surgery this morning at UNC Chapel Hill. I think it went pretty well - but you are only semi-conscious when the procedure is over, so I can not be positive of what Dr. Murray was telling me! They had been concerned that although my septum looked only partial, it was very broad and probably vascular. It turns out that the septum was only like 1 cm long, but covered a wide area, and probably has been the cause of my problems. They were able to resect it -- it was NOT actually vascular -- even though the MRI had indicated that it was. I wish I would have known this a year ago!!!!! The doctor showed me pictures and said it went as well as possible. He seemed very pleased and wants me to come back for a follow up HSG in 6 weeks. I am still feeling totally " out of it " - but no pain and only very light bleeding. I think they gave me some mega-dose of Motrin before I left. I have also been prescribed Percocet if I need it. And I was prescribed Premarin (estrogen) to take twice a day for a few weeks in an attempt to prevent scar tissue formation - which he said could be a possibility. I'm a little concerned about taking estrogen and getting my system out of whack, but this seems to be common after these surgeries. Hopfully I won't have to go back and get scar tissue removed... On a side note, since I know that you may be referred to UNC, I was very impressed by the doctors & nurses at the day-op center. They were very professional. Even though this is not a difficult procedure (And I am otherwise very healthy!) I had 4 doctors working on me (an anesthesiologist and three OB/GYNs or REs). One of those doctors was their " resident expert " on MAs - Dr. Ania Kowalik - and she is who Tricare had originally referred me to see. Maybe you should request to see her if you are referred to UNC, or Dr. Murray. Anyway, Let me know what your doctor heard back from the specialist he is consulting and also just email me if you have any questions about all this in the future. Good luck! Cheryl SU resected? (we'll see for sure in 6 weeks!)
