IEP signing question

I have a question that I need a really quick answer to. We have an IEP meeting

this afternoon and I am pretty prepared, but I forget if it is typical that you

go to the first meeting to make a new IEP, are you usually expected to sign it

at that meeting or do they print it up and then you sign?

The reason I ask is I plan on going in there with the intention not to sign

until they tell me which class they plan on putting him in and I am able to sit

in on that class. Does that sound reasonable? I would tell them this in the

beginning, that I am not trying to be difficult but I want to make sure that

this is the right environment for my son. This is where I got myself in trouble

last time. It sounded like they were giving him almost everything we wanted and

more, they just didn't give the FM. They didn't say no to it either they just

said I had to talk to the audi. I later found out that the kids were severely

mentally handicapped and he was getting virtually no socialization skills from

this and there were no age level sign modles or speech modles. So this time I

want to make sure the class is right for him before signing. I think I am

pretty prepared. I went through his current IEP and revised it as well as

printing out a list of the most important goals and why and how to attain them

that is seperate to pass out to all so they know where I'm at right off the bat.

A friend suggested we take cookies to the meeting to get them all in good

spirits, but we forgot to plan this and we have no money due to a birthday party

last weekend. I might go to target before though and pick some up because I

have a gift cirtificate.
