I don't know how much longer that my hemoglobin can stay in the normal range, the only thing that gets my ferritin back into the low normal range is iron supplementation. I was a bit concerned when I went to have the EPS done as I thought if I had a bout of bleeding from the site that I would not have enough iron stored to be able to handle it. I already feel tired enough! Anyway I'm sure someone will be able to tell me the best method for taking iron without getting the nasty side effects of nausea and acid indigestion. Blah!!! Thanks for sharing your experience with me. Germaine

Hello Germaine: It is probably more effective to take a good " B " complex vitamin mix than iron. Our bodies are able to synthesize it to make iron, and we can raise the hemoglobin, hematocrit better and with less toxic effects than with iron. It is also highly desirable that you eat fruit that is high in Vitamin C so that the level is more constant throughout the day and this too helps the B complex to do its work. Another great helper is plain low fat yogurt, for it is beneficial in establishing a healthy flora and that too may help to raise your iron stores. I would not take vitamin C tablets nor drink juices that have been fortified with ascorbic acid or Vitamin C. I would not use vinegar nor any dressing with that as an ingredient, because that may interfere with the forming of good bacterial flora in your gut. I hope this helps you. Let us know how you are doing. Isabelle
