Guest guest
Dear Calvin started walking a couple of weeks ago, at nearly 17 months. I would have posted sooner but I have just been enjoying it. Thank you, thank you to Dr. Ponseti and all of the people on this board. So exciting, and what a road it's been.... Jen One question--when your kids started walking did they walk exactly " normal " ? He looks pretty much like a duck (feet pointing out). Actually I guess there are two questions--do your kids keep their feet plantigrade (flat to the floor) all the time? His feet look great and are flexible, and when he walks they are flat to the floor, but sometimes when he stands still I'll see him roll the foot a little like he is putting more weight on the outside of the foot. I notice that I even do this myself sometimes, but I guess I'm leery of seeing him do it because of the whole relapse thing.

Guest guest
Congratulations, Calvin! It's an especially sweet milestone after all they've been thorough, isn't it? Many kids have the outward " Charlie Chaplin " look when they first start walking, from the overcorrection .. As time passes and they walk more, it goes away. About his sometimes standing on the outside border of the foot.. I would say to keep an eye on it, and if you are concerned to send some pictures to Dr. Ponseti. It could just be that he's still kind of unsteady, and nothing to worry about, but if you keep seeing it, it couldn't hurt to ask.. Good luck! and > Dear Calvin started walking a couple of weeks ago, at nearly 17 > months. I would have posted sooner but I have just been enjoying > it.
