Guest guest
Crystal, I have to tell you I have had 21 years of discovering things on my own. That's one of the reasons our bond is so important. It's about sharing information and/or a variety of possibilities. Bonnie, Mom to a 23, Patty CHARGE 21, and wife to
Guest guest
Lesley- I suppose you could let her vent for a few minutes after she comes off the pump. For what it is worth, (our Charger) never benefited from venting, though it was explained to us (by our home nurses) as a very necessary precaution. Naturally being as cavalier as we are, seeing no benefit from it, we stopped venting. Our two subsequent medically unremarkable sons also were not burpers either. (and Amy- as for the gas post venting - perhaps it is being made in his intestines as opposed to just extra air in his tummy?) If she needed venting (so that it was problematic) and wasn't getting it, I think she would let you know - for there would be some degree of discomfort or complaint. Smiles~! We had torrential rain early this morning with " no immediate concerns for tornadoes " and now it is bright and sunny (though gusty with the winds).... Guest guest
That's a good question, maybe just try it sporadically throughout the day to see what kind of air comes out. Best to check with your doc though; I'm not a doctor, I just play one in real life. Guest guest
About venting. Sometimes my son will be extra fussy and when I vent him more formula than usual will be there and it smells like vommit (maybe partially digested food). After a day or so there will be brown stuff ( like coffe grounds almost) in the tube and I son't know what causes this every now and then. Has anywone had experience with this or have an idea what or why this happens occasionally? , mom to CHaRGE (7.5 mos.)

My guess is that you won't see the leaking anymore. Guest guest
Thanks , I started that one a long time ago when people always asked me if I was a nurse when I brought Kennedy to the hospital, etc. They would ask and I would really stoically state " No, I just play one in real life " . It really threw some people for a loop, which makes it even better when you can make a doctor stand there and scratch their head. ________________________________ From: CHARGE on behalf of Sefcik Sent: Thu 4/6/2006 9:50 AM To: CHARGE Subject: Re: Re: VENTING!!! what is it? why has no one told me!!!!! Guest guest
Coffee grounds in the stomach contents is usually old blood (I'm assuming you are not actually feeding him anything other than formula). Per my pediatrician, most blood in the stomach is swallowed blood, and small amounts (less than ~1/2 teaspoon) now and then was not concerning to him. Is he being medicated for reflux? Esophagitis can cause bleeding, and he can grow out of the dose for his reflux meds if the dose isn't upped. If you are concerned about the blood (the amount), your Dr. can do a blood count to make sure he isn't slowly losing larger amounts of blood. (mom to Evan 8.5 mos) Sefcik wrote: About venting. Guest guest
Thanx for the info, all he takes is formula, no coffee lol, so I bet he has outgrown his reflux dose. I will have to bring this up at our appointment at the end of this month. I don't think that the amount is too significant but if/when he does it again I will pay more attention to the amount. Again thank you for the info. , mom to 7.5 months > > i used to vomit coffee ground old bloods hugs ellen > > > > > > Coffee grounds in the stomach contents is usually old blood (I'm > assuming > > you are not actually feeding him anything other than formula).
