New to board and also new to dealing with clubfeet

Hi, I am new here, my name is a I am 40 and I am pregnant of a bi-

lateral club feet boy that will be born next week. I am from

Portugal, very far from US but close to your problems tanks to the

net (forgive my school english, portuguese is my language).

We found out at our 20 weeks scan that our baby has bi-lateral club

feet.

Although CF is associated with other diseases it seems from this

board that most children have isolated CF. I dont want to think about

it as all the tests were ok.

We found this board very helpful in our concerns about the disease,

as the doctors at the public hospital in our city gave as poor

information, as they dont deal with clubfoot...and the " expert " will

talk to us only when the baby is born...there was only one baby born

last year! and they are not autorized to give the parents names... so

we are alone. We ask and ask and found that there is no doctors in

Portugal using the Ponseti method. The operation is the way!

So we decided to go to Iowa tanks to you!

We need your advise in some questions:

When sould we go to see Dr Ponsetti or other in Iowa?

Is it ease to make un appointment?

Our baby will be scheduled to a surgeon in our Hospital as soon as

possible they said. Sould we let im put the first casts on the baby

and then go to US?

Where can we stay for so long? we dont have health insurance as in

Portugal the Social Security works... so we use our savings for

that...

Its a long trip!
