Guest guest
Hi , Welcome from me too. :-) You got so much great advise there was nothing left for me to say. LOL We will all be anxiously awaiting your experiences with the treatment in Japan. I read over and over what good success rates they have there. I await the secret. Regarding your question about iodine diets. I personally find iodine sets me off into hyper very consistently , then I feel icky the whole next day. While I know we need some iodine , I was quite surprised at the many sources. I have finally found my link to this information. <sigh> It requires Acrobat Reader to view: http://www.cc.nih.gov/ccc/patient_education/pepubs/lowio.pdf A less stressful life style will become the best thing you can do for your health. When I was first told this, I doubted it would make any difference, much less that it was a doable goal. I now find, as my body responds quite dramatically on occasion to stress, and consistently so, that there is truth in this. You too may find the results of the stress manifesting itself physicaly.....thus the new way of thinking about this will slowly become a natural way of living. It didn't happen all at once, at least for me. Still working on it myself. -Pam-

Guest guest
, I am very curious about your experiences with Japanese MD's and hope you keep us up to date with the challenges you face there. My daughter is going to be living in Kyoto for the next year, and I have NO idea what life is really like there on a day-to-day basis. I know from reading that Japanese treatment doesn't usually include RAI, so you are lucky not to have to buck that pressure. I hope that their system allows you test result copies and involvement in your own care. Guest guest
Hi , I am excited that you are in Japan! No they don't do RAI over there from everything I have read which is wonderful for you...the other thing I believe they do in Japan for treatment is Block and Replace Therapy which has a 95% success rate...I have heard that is a cure rate...though it could be remission. It does take 3-5 years of this treatment to work, but what a wonderful success it is!!! I am envious ;-) I hope if your doctor proceeds with this that you will share every aspect of your treatment with us. There are only a handful of doctors in the US that do this, but they tend to rush it and success is not always long term. Isn't it great to not be alone with this anymore! I love this group and everyone in it...we are all here for each other. Welcome to the family Take care, Jody _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com

I was given some recently though, and I have not been good about taking them. I am not on PTU right now either. I am med free. Where it's led me is still a mystery and I can't get my docs to push up my appointment, so here I am in limbo.

Guest guest
> Val, > Will they at least order labs for you, even if they won't push up your > appointment? When is your appointment? > Jody Oh Jody! I had labs done last Fri night when I went to the ER for my darn heart. It was erratic at best and I thought for sure (with the fever etc) that it was a storm. Luckily it wasn't (phew) Anyhow I faxed those darn labs over to my Endo and I begged them to have the nurse call me back. No one did. I called again, no one called me back. My appt isn't until March 18! I have some beta blockers but I'm exhausted! My erratic heart was from going hypo! I am exclamation point happy today! Anyhow, I am going to call them all next week too.. I'm just so tired, I'll bet they're banking on me to be too tired to give them anymore guff..but I'll keep persisting. So After about 7 months of being euthyroid, here I am...Pretty dang frustrating! I'm okay though, it helps to hang in with the group and get a little more involved...makes me feel less useless.
