Guest guest
Andy, Nice job. This is exactly how departments with great staff deal with the pressue. We are never going to " make money " for the governments we are employed by. " No matter what you think of the administration that day, you continue to be a top notch organization that goes out and treats the public with respect and professionalism. " That says it all. Re: Trust me any EMS, Public, Private, Volunteer all of them at ... This may or may not be the case, and if it is, it may be only where you reside. I have worked for the City of Beaumont EMS division since 1984 and not once has this division ever turned a profit. I have been the Division Manager since 2002 and we came the closest this past year. We were within $500K. With a budget of $2.8M, it only cost the city $500K to run a top notch, overworked, department that is responsible directly to the Public Health Director, City Manager, City Council, and 129,000 citizens. It is called accountability. We also have a spotless record with the Hospitals and ER doctors and we receive a great amount of respect from them for that reason. There is not a medic in this division that I would not allow to treat my Mother or any other member of my family, including myself. Are we proud and a little uppity about this. Unfortunately we give off this impression, but I deal with this in different ways. I feel that sometimes we are like Marines. The few, the proud. Do they complain? Sure, they are often overworked and driven to do many things that put a great deal of stress on a NORMAL human being. But it never interferes with their treatment or professionalism. This is the what makes a service. Whether you are private, public, or fire based. No matter what you think of the administration that day, you continue to be a top notch organization that goes out and treats the public with respect and professionalism. This entire thread was started and based on an incident in LaPorte. I cannot tell you who, what or where this all went wrong. I do think that interference into a call that was authorized into another City could have been done after the call and none of this would have risen to the level that is has. It has nothing to do with public, private or whatever. It has to do with how the situation evolved and why it was handled in this manner. This should be left up the parties involved, their accounts of what happened and how it should have been handled. If this is just territorial, then do it after the patient has been treated and taken care. These are only my opinions, not the City of Beaumont's, nor does it have anything to do with public or private companies making a profit. Stop the Madness and get on with your lives.
