There are many docs who think starting Betapace outpatient is OK for

many, if not most, patients, depending upon whether or not they have

other heart problems, and how much of a " loading dose " is given to

suddenly raise blood levels to a therapeutic level. I believe, however,

that Rythmol is the only drug FDA approved for AF starting as an outpatient.

In responding to , if he is concerned about starting Betapace or any med

that has the potential for side effects, then he should go to the hospital for

his own peace of mind. I for one have gone on Betapace both in and out of the

hospital and have never had any side effects, except that my cardiologist was

mad that I did that and my EP said that it was OK. Just do whatever you are

comfortable with. I don't think that it is ever wrong to be too safe,

especially if you are worried....
