Guest guest
I am a 44 yo male living in Plymouth, UK. Having suffered continuing los of rom for the last ten years I was amazed to find I was suffering from OA in both hips. There is no family history. and I have always been fit and active with a variety of sports. But for the last few years I have been unable to ride a motorbike, cycle or even put shoes and socks on. Having waited 18 months I had LBHR on 1st October 2002 here in Plymouth, UK. With the right side scheduled for January. So a couple of questions for all the " old hands " in the group. Having made good progress so far, (using just a cane for walking), I would really like to start working on improving rom. I guess I have to retrain those muscles and tendons which havent worked properly for years. My consultant at the six week visit, was happy that I could proceed with no restrictions. So can anybody recommend some excercise to improve my rom ? How long does it typically take to walk unaided and limp free ? Could trauma lead to OA ? I was involved in a pretty serious motor accident 14 years ago where I was driving and took a fair impact through both legs. Any symtoms have appeared after this time. Thanks to the group, a great source of information and inspiration !
