Guest guest
I am 27 years old and I had a TT on Nov 26th…there was initially a fear that I had insular carcinoma, but the ultimate diagnose was a follicular variant of papillary carcinoma (with islets of insular patterns). I've been reassured that the islets of insular patterned cells should not affect prognosis. After the surgery I was on cytomel, but have been off medication and on the LID since Dec 23. I am scheduled for an I-131 Total Body Scan on Jan 6, followed by a tx dose of radioactive iodine (150 mCi) on Dec 10, and then another scan about 10 days later (Dec 20th). I have a few questions…So far I have felt tired (but not excessively so) and am hoping to keep working until the tx dose on the 10th. Given that I have already been off meds for 10 days, is this about how I should expect to feel, or have you found that you felt MUCH worse as time went on? About how long does it take to start feeling better after the RI tx dose? (What sx should I expect from the RI tx?) I'm assuming I can't go off the diet or start Synthroid until after the second scan, does that sound correct? Thanks for your feedback – I've been skimming through old postings, and they have been very helpful!
