Guest guest
Hello, and welcome. Here are the links to lists of docs on the US: http://www.activejoints.com/hipdocs.html http://www.activejoints.com/corindocs.html just click to see who is closest to you. Likely you will need to travel some to get it. I had insurance problems, and went with the cheapest hip system I knew of at the time, which was also exactly what I wanted (how very eloquent!) I went to Mr. RBC Treacy (a developer of BHR who routinely does 8 resurfacings in a day) in Birmingham, England, and stayed 20 days there with my wife, spent about $17k on all expenses including tourist stuff and was re- imbursed for ALL medical AND travel (after a lawsuit and appeal that I won.) Many from this site now go to Dr. Koen De Smet in Belgium due to still lower costs.

Guest guest
Dear Webster, Congratulations! I don't know any Americans who got their BHRs paid for. Out of curiosity, are you willing to tell us what insurance plan you' were on? That out-of-country option is extremely unusual. When the rest of us go shopping for insurance, it would be nice to know who has this for when our other hip goes south. Best, Sheila > Hello, and welcome. Guest guest
How long does it last? Well I'm hoping for 30+ years. We shall see. The surgery itself took a bit longer than most because I needed bone grafting from my socket to the femoral head, so it took 50 minutes. I was 7 days in hospital (private room) and 20 days in England to allow a cross-atlantic flight safe from DVT (blood clots), on forearm crutches or cane for 10 weeks due to fragile bones from avn. I think six weeks with cane is the norm for OA? Then no restriction at all.
Guest guest
Thanks for your reply! How long ago was your surgery done and how physically active are you? Any idea how long the procedure lasts? Regards........ Re: hip resurface Your area > Hello, and welcome.
