I was told by a couple of orthos that more than not, most people will

never know what caused their AVN. Thats my case anyhow. " the unknown

factor " . Also, definitely old-age is not a factor in developing OA. I

was 36 when I was diagnosed with OA bone-on-bone and had been having

problems with my hip for 10 yrs. This may be genetic in my case as

both my mother and father have horrid joint problems. BUT, I am the

only child in my family with bad joints out of 6 siblings (I am the

youngest). I also tormented my joints throughout jr. high, high

school and jr. college being a gymnast. Although alot of people are

active and do alot of bone-jarring activities such as that, I can

only assume my problems stem from that. I can't assume the few beers

we all enjoy now and again would cause THAT much damage.
