Jodi - Glad you're feeling good! Your TSH is not low enough for a thycan - it should be >0.1. Our TSH needs to be suppressed, NOT in the normal range. I am not clear who it is that called to give you the results and tell you to stay on this level - was it the surgeon? The nuclear med doc? the endo? You do need a higher dose of T4, but you should not adjust your dose yourself - it needs to be done by the doctor. I seem to recall that you have a bit of a challenge with the endo you currently have, and that he didn't seem to understand thyca protocol. > Sometimes my head feels a little stuffed, and clogged, but > only a few times a week. I'd ask him about increasing the dose (and then you'd need to get the new endo to re-test you in 6-8 weeks), but if he's unwilling to do so, you may need to wait, and make it a priority to find a good endo in Vegas who can adjust your meds as needed - have you gotten some suggestions from other group members about endos there? >( i am on synthroid 0.125.. i am not sure if that is a > normal amount or not... There's really no " normal " amount: I'll quote in a recent post - " According to Dr. Ain, " the mean replacement dose of levothyroxine is 2.0 micrograms per kilogram (2.2 lbs) per day. For example, a 165 lb person would average 150 micrograms daily to suppress their TSH. Of course, there is a wide range of variation and there are many factors which are involved. ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Thyca/message/11763 ) " One of the docs at the conference says he starts with about 1 mcg/lb, and then adjusts from there. > They did do a full blood work up with the > t3, and t4 and a few other things, but they said all the bloodwrok > was in the normal range.
