I know there has been discussion on adrenals on this list before, but I

admit I skipped over them as I just didn't want to think anything else might

be going wrong in my body... the thyroid stuff was more than enough to deal

with... however.. This waking in the night thing has been happening to me,

sometimes 3 or 4 am. sometimes I go back to sleep other times I just get up

knowing that my mind is racing and there is no hope, so rather than lie

there, getting up is better. Today I woke up at 4am. Then had to crash

after lunch and slept for a couple hours. I did feel better when I woke up

at 3. This seems to happen after a couple very busy days.. or day. Sat and

Sun I was " on " all the time at a seminar, outside, -8 very cold so still

trying to warm up. then Wed I was working teaching, and very " on " again. So

I guess I kind of crashed today.. that seems to be the story of my life,

either all or nothing. can't seem to have a steady pace. Makes sense to

think that I am overdoing the adrenal glands. What should I be doing about

this. I am a bit afraid to take anything, don't want bad consequences... At

least now I can manage to be " on " and thinking for the days I am teaching

and the day before to get the lessons prepared..

I wonder if I am taking too much thyroid so it is disrupting my sleep? or

not enough? When Iwas hyper, I never had trouble sleeping. In fact I was so

worn out at the end of the day I would be in bed by 10 or 11pm and sleep til

6 or 7.

Carol... waking during the night like that, feeling anxious and panicked

can also be a sign of adrenal fatigue. Fatigued adrenals misfire, for

lack of a better term, and instead of giving us the hormones that we need

in the morning, when we wake, will dump into our system at later and

later times during the day.... until at some point it becomes during the

night... waking us with feelings of dread, anxiety, panic and/or

confusion...

It is worth checking into to see how much stress has been put on your

adrenals when they've had to deal with improper thyroid levels for

extended periods of time.. the poor adrenals take over to keep us moving

when the thyroid hormones aren't there.

(see PRECAUTIONS)." Then, under the Precautions heading, it says, "...Patients with concomitant [occuring along with, or accompanying] adrenal insufficency should be treated wtih replacement glucocorticoids prior to initiation of tretment with levothyroxine sodium. Failure to do so many precipitate an acute adrenal crisis when thyroid hormone therapy is initiated, due to increased metabolic clearance of glucocorticoids by thyroid hormone."

, I did the salivery test and just waiting for the results, but of course not through the Doctor who never mentioned such a thing, here I have been taking levothyroxine all this time and never felt any differerent, and the Doc' just says well you are testing OK!! I went to see Dr Peatfield privately and he advised that test, he has the results and is going through them all, he will write me a report and when he does if it is not good I am taking it to show that Dr. I got a few tests done, cost me a bomb but needs must. The tests I got where - The adrenal stress index, candida antibody profile, and progesterone/oestrogen. Hope to know what they all showed up this next week some time. Now I am going to get the insert from the Levo and have plenty of ammunition next time I see the Dr, she probably thinks I am loony but so what. Last time I questioned her she accused me of being anxious and offered me pills, I don't take them..... Sheesh......

Hugs right back
