Re: CVS or Amnio ??

Hi -

I am not sure what to suggest re: the CVS vs. amnio (I have had neither done),

but the risk of 1/200 sounds easier to stomach than 1/100. However, is the CVS

offered earlier in your preg., thus giving you more options if you find a

problem? (If this is the case, your decision would probably also hinge on what

you might do about it if there were a problem). Regarding your peri's thought

that the nuchal test is not as good given your age, I do not understand why that

would be true. And in general, given all of this, I would suggest getting a

second perinatal opinion as soon as possible. While your peri and OB may be

competent, not all docs are experienced with all types of cases, and they are

also not as vigilant and/or sensitive as we would like. For your peace of mind,

and to further clarify and validate these very important decisions you need to

make, that would be my suggestion.

Good luck---take care of yourself...
