Guest guest
> Hello All. Just got out of the hospital yesterday following the three-day > monitoring required for starting Dofetilide. Kathleen, I also have a problem of sometimes waking up in a panic state. I don't know if I panic and that causes my heart to act up, or if my heart is acting up while I sleep and that is causing me to panic, since afib seems to cause panic almost at a subconscious level for me. I guess it's also possible that we have some form of sleep breathing problem. I have woken up hyperventilating a couple of times, and that can bring on afib. I would be interested to know other people's experiences with this. It's bad enough dealing with panic when I'm awake :-) let alone havig it sneak up on us like this. I'm sorry the Dofetilide hasn't kept you in normal rhythm. You probably are going to call your doc and I wonder if he will want to increase the dose. As to the ice cream and wine, I sometimes have a delayed reaction to triggers. As to the magnesium, did your doc say what signs to watch for that might indicate kidney damage? The magnesium drip you were on, I wonder if it's possible that the combination of that and the dofetilide helped.

Guest guest
--- I certainly CAN identify with anxiety and panic causing fib attacks. I started having them at 4:00 A.M. for two weeks every three days, so now I wake at 4:00 every morning worrying and wondering if it will happen again! Sometimes I just get out of bed rather then lie there and worry. Today I had 1/2 pint of chocolate ice cream, just outof frustration, also my 4 grandkids have been visiting for 5 days, and this afternoon at 4:00 P.M. my fib kicked in! I say anxiety, stress, and certain foods, are definitly a trigger for me! MandyofCA Toprol XL 100mg digitek coumadin 5mg
Guest guest
I started out on 1000 mcg of Tykosin in the hospital and then went down to 500 (250 x 2) per day when I left the hospital. Two weeks later I was in afib (in the islands) so they upped me to 750 mcg (250 x 3). I was NOT hospitalized for this dosage change... perhaps because I'd already been monitored at 1000. Stef As I understand the drill with Tykosin, you have to go back into the hospital to increase the dose. Guest guest
I was also started on 1000mcg of Tikosyn/Dofetilide, but just before I was discharged that very same day, the EP changed the dose to 750mcg (375 X 2). Except for a few minor episodes here and there during the almost four years I've been on Dofetilide, I have been blessed with NSR.
