Guest guest
Dr. Weil is one of my favorite famous Doctors and I think he often has excellent information and advice. I subscribe to his daily email tips. Today's gem, though it's probably pretty obvious to most of us here already: Battling breast cancer is more than just attempting to heal physically - the mental aspect is important as well. There are number of support groups to help the women, men, and families who have fought against or are battling breast cancer. From group programs and one-on-one counseling to online support groups, sharing your experiences, both good and bad, can be therapeutic for yourself and others. Visit the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org for a list of resources, links and local support options. End Quote Another favorite site of mine is http://www.breastcancer.org For those of you just starting on this journey it has page by page information on what is going on, the possible treatments for your particular type of breast cancer and descriptions of what is going to happen. They even have a whole section on breast reconstruction if you are thinking about that option. I spent about 3 hours at this site the other day and I wish I had investigated it further when I was first diagnosed. It wouldn't have changed my treatments much but I would have gone in less scared armed with more knowledge. The Mayo Clinic is another good website, though I don't have it handy, for researching cancer and types and how to handle what you are going through.
