Hello,

I can certainly relate to the weight issue, too! I'm a 42-year-old

female, 5'1 and 109 lbs.I recently had my annual health exam and my doc

told me I'm too thin (but my weight is good...make sense?!) and that

I'm a good candidate for osteoporosis. Nice!! Anyway...I eat like a

horse. I can out-eat my 2 sons (17 and 21) any day. So yes, I'm a

little worried about the inevitable weight loss after surgery. All I

can say is, eat, eat, eat!!! Try to bulk up as much as you can now. My

doc told me to get protein powder and supplements for recovery.

This is kinda unrelated but do the " skinny " men out there have a hard

time finding clothes to fit? Shopping for me is horrible. I'm

definitely in the minority as far as size goes. How frustrating!

Anyway, good luck to everyone getting ready for the big day.

> Hi Becky,

> I guess us skinny people are a real minority. I'm scheduled for

upper/lower on the 14th (less than 3 weeks). Yikes! I've been the

skinny one all my life (46yo male who at 6' weighs only 120 soaking

wet), although I've been working hard lately and have managed to put

on about 5.5 lbs. That was really hard.

> I've been experimenting with formulas & a good healthy fruit

cocktail I made from OJ, raspberries, blue berries, bananas, and

yogurt turned out pretty good. I've also been doing lots of shakes.

Protein powders kept me from going below 160. (I'm 6'2, " and about

170 now.)

> On your side issue, I have a terrible time buying clothes that

fit. In the college town I live in, only 1 store carries 29-34

levis. Buying dress slacks is worse. I can sympathize.

Just finding 31-34 or 32-34 pants is very hard. Hence, I almost

never bother looking in stores and instead go to the online stores

that carry them.

By the way:

This might not be common knowledge, but facial development and body

development go together. Hence, the larger people with orthognathic

problems tend to have overdeveloped lower faces, whereas skinny

individuals like me (and, I expect, most female patients, because

women are smaller) have underdeveloped lower faces.

Do you know how many calories you are eating in a day?

Eating enormous amounts of green beans will never add up to

much. :(

Can you use Fitday.com and figure out about how many calories

you are getting in a day?

I think you would need at least 2500 since you are underweight.

Hi BluewillowLane,

How long have you been on the diet? Have you had any improvement?

I found I ate huge meals the first few months on the diet. LOts of

good fats, fruit, vegetables etc.

It sounds like you need to eat more food.

It takes a lot of food energy to heal the body and put weight back

on.

Hi ,

> No, I haven't had any improvement, I have been on it 5 months,

Can you tell me exactly what you are eating and how it is prepared

(peeled, cooked etc.)?

Are you taking any supplements?

What is your condition? Any meds?

How are your bm's ? Any other symptoms?

not

> a drop of carbs. You said you ate alot of good fats, like what?

I ate cheese, full fat yogurt, lots of homemade mayo, regular ground

meats (not lean), avocadoes, bananas.

i am not clear. Are you eating very few carbs? Fruit, like bananas or honey--

are you considering that they are carbs?

Only and all protein and fat could cause ketosis, weight loss, exhaustion and

would not be healthy if you have gastric problems.

Please post all the foods you eat or clarify your previous post so we can be of

more help.Could you provide a typical day's menu please?

Have you tried the SCD legal cheeses since being on SCD?

Did you start with the intro diet and gradually add foods?
