Guest guest
9 weeks out= 75 lbs gone. WOW! That's super!! That is over 8 lbs a week woman You will slow down at times and speed up at others. Now at 9 weeks your body may be literally catching its breath .. its also a good time to double check your fluids, lots of water .. and exercise. Are you exercising? Walking is one of the best forms of exercise ... Hang in there. Early days yet but from the start you've had I'd say you have nothing to worry about other than what fabulous outfits are you going to be wearing. Guest guest
I would suggest that you stay off the scale and not worry about your weight loss. Focus on developing and maintaining new life style habits. Those are what will be the " secret " to your success, not a scale. BTW, congratulations on your weight loss. If you stay at your 3 lb a week weigh loss, that will be 156 lbs in the next year. You are on the right track. Guest guest
Hi there, I thought I'd do the same thing, and I have to say I failed dismally. I put on 20kgs before surgery - because I got pregnant and had a beautiful baby boy. I thought this would be the best way to get a start on losing weight. I lost 6 kilos in the first week and a half and was so excited! I literally was on soup and Breakfast drinks (anything watery/liquid I could suck through a straw) for over 4 weeks, and then only on mashed potato for 2 weeks after that, and do you think I could lose any more weight??? Not on your life.... But then, that's just me, others perhaps might have better luck! Now I can eat almost normally again, I put on 2 of those 6 kilos again.... Best of luck! Hopefully you get some happier stories from other people, but I went into it thinking the weight would just drop off, and was very disappointed. Cheers Ginger weight loss curious as to how much weight people have actually lost when wired shut on liquid diet. i personally plan on utilizing these 6 weeks as a jump start for a very much needed diet. not going to deprive myself of anything of course, but i know weight loss is inevitable. has anyone else used this as a sort foa jump start? and how much weight have other people lost? and how long where you sewn shut.? Guest guest
I was wired shut with a splint for 6 weeks and I lost 16 lbs. I could only eat liquid food though. If you are banded you will be able to eat more than if you are wired. Also you may be interested in www.fitday.com they help you count calories and I really like that site. I started on my diet in January and I lost 15 pounds just by watching what I eat and how much I consume. Another good site is www.calorieking.com, and www.ediets.com. E-Diets you do have to join, but they are a good choice. If you are serious about dieting and eating healthy these are good alternatives because if you just relay on the jaw surgery you will just gain it all back as soon as you are able to eat normally again. The other way you learn how to eat better and more healthy so that when you return to eating normal food you can make more educated food choices. Good luck with it all. Hi, sorry to disillusion you, but weight lost as a result of being wired shut is almost always gained back when normal eating is resumed. This is due to the fact that when weight is lost that quickly, it is mostly lean body mass (muscle) that is lost along with a small amount of fat. Lean body mass is what burns calories, so the less you have of it the more difficult it is to lose weight (ironically). You'd be far better off minimizing your postop weight loss in order to retain muscle mass and thus keep your metabolism functioning at a higher rate. Once you have completely healed from the surgery, start a sensible eating plan and exercise program in order to promote fat loss while increasing muscle. Lift weights in order to maximize this process. Cheryl > > >
