Guest guest
Happy Holidays to you all, I just picked up my new perscription fo minocycline. The Dr. called it in to the drug store today. I have Teva USA brand generic. They are powdered not pelleted. I can't get back with the Dr. until after the holidays. Just wondered if any one has any experience with this brand. Sincerely Skip
Guest guest
Hi Ivory, Thanks for the info on your meds and congratulations on your progress! I am new to AP and to these boards. I am kind of blindly helping myself (as my Dr was willing to prescribe minocin, but doesn't have any expertise). I am wondering if I need to travel to one of the " expert " AP doctors. Is this what you have done? I know many on the boards do if possible. If so, who have you seen and is it working, the long distance therapy? I started on 100mgs MWF and have taken this with no ill effects so far (only two weeks) but others have told me they double this dose or do it daily. I am not sure what to do, if anything and I'm sure it will be months before I can get in to see someone good. Any advice? Also did you do the diet too? I am trying hard to make these radical changes and with two young kids in the house it is tough. Thanks very much, (in Seattle, WA)
Guest guest
Hi ! I would tell you, as I'm sure many on here would, that the guidance, support, encouragement, etc. that an AP doc will give you is WELL WORTH the effort and money it costs you to travel to see them, not to mention the ease in which they will give you the prescriptions you need. I personally see Dr. Sentef in Georgia but I realize that's very far for you. I will forward you a list of doctors someone sent me if you'll email me. My email is ivorydortch@.... But you have to do the investigative work, to see what meds they'll prescribe and find out about their treatment. Yes, 100% the treatment works. Go to the ends of the earth to do this treatment, it will be worth it for you in the end. I do the 100mg minocycline twice a day, every day, along with the other meds I mentioned in my last post. I can't say whether or not you should do this, that is why seeing a doc familiar with the protocol will help you. Since I'm not a doctor I hesitate to encourage you one way or the other, but I know what most of us on here will say is that MWF is necessary and in many cases we need to take it every day, I suppose you could talk to your General doc and make sure there is no reason you could not take 100mg twice a day, every day. Perhaps he/she will give you a prescription for this dosage at least until you can see an AP doctor (that's what my General doc did for me). This really can't hurt, kids take that amount for acne all the time with no ill effects. Just watch and make sure you don't have any negative side effects from upping the dose. I have cut out gluten and dairy but I don't notice any differences, so I can't say whether or not this is really helping me. Obviously I'm not allergic to these, maybe just a bit intolerant. hope all this helps you!
