Thanks so much for your concern. We are about 12 hours drive from the bushfires in Sydney. However, there have been some here in , but they were brought under control quickly. Fortunately the weather in Melbourne has been unusually cool for this time of year. has sent hundreds of our firefighters up to Sydney, and I know we have had offers of help from the American firefighters, despite their own terrible recent losses. Sydney and surrounding areas are bathed in a blanket of thick smog. It must be hell for those who already have breathing problems.

I am extremely concerned at the terrible fires raging in parts of Australia and hope everyone is safe and that they can control these fires as soon as possible with the least amount of damage.

Yes, it's bad at the moment - more than 100 fires out of control in

Sydney. The trouble is that people who like lighting fires get excited by

the fires on television and then go out and light some more to keep the

'action' going. Fire crews from all states have gone to Sydney to help the

fire crews there, so we would be in a bad state if some idiot/criminal

decides to throw a match in other areas.
