Guest guest
Jane, am just now reading your post about the bad days that Nick is having and my heart aches to hear this news. There isn't a heck of a whole lot that I can say except to let you know that in some small way, we are all hear for you should you feel the need to talk. Donna hit the nail right on the head when she said that sometimes even when things look real bad, they can totally turn around and that's what I will believe will happen here. The two of you have fougth this monster to damn long to give in to it now and I know in my heart that the moment Nick starts to feel a little better, and he will, he'll gear right back up into the fighting mode. In the meantime, as you have expressed so many times to me, keep the faith, the hope and let God lead the way. Guest guest
It's the prayers and faith that keep us going. Nick came home,today,July1st in the care of Vitas Hospice. The cancer just spread and they cannot control it and to give more chemo will only cause more pain. We have accepted the Dr.s decision and ask God for the grace to do what has to be done. Fortunately all the kids have come in and out and the grandkids too. He is a great man, a good husband, great dad and wonderful grandfather. he was you friend for life and and seldom had a harsh word. We will have this time with him, reminisce about the good times and share his pain and sorrow at having to leave us. He will live his foorprints on the sands of time and I have had 44 years to be happy about. Miracles happen, I won't say we don't want one or believe in one. we all do. Tuesday he received the Sacrament of ExtremeUnction and received a piece of the Host yesterday. It quieted the tremors and he seemed more at peace. We have all accepted the fact that it is time to release him from the wracking pain and we ask Godto give us the grace to accpet this. Guest guest
Dear Jane - My prayers are with you and Nick as you face this time of acceptance and loss. May God bind you closer together and may you have some more days of good time for Nick. You two have been so loving and giving during your own struggle with this disease, I pray that things will go as well as possible from here on out. God bless you both. Guest guest
Jane- I am so sorry to hear that things have progressed. You both have been such an inspiration with your kind and helpful words. I wish I could express myself so well. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you both however. I pray that with some support Nick can get comfortable enough to have some good times left to spend together with family. Take care, Kris

Guest guest
Liz: Thank you and all the wonderful group praying for us. He is riddled with this in- sideous disease and it has taken it's toll. We are blessed with this Vitas Hospice Group, our own family and neighbors, friends and co workers. So many people have written to say miracles are still there. We received info on many new trials, from the MiamiCyberKnife Group, from many sources. It will literally take a miracle, and yes, if we have a choice that is proority #1. He takes little food, has withdrawn, speaks but sort of far away, then clearly,so we kind of reread a lot of the things we downloaded and some of the beautiful thoughts, expressions and e-mails and it is a great comfort. Thanks, again Nick & Jane
Guest guest
Had a hemmorage Sat./went to hospice unit/bleeding stopped/can't seem to swallow home again today 7/05/04. Funny thing..hair regrowing,if he can'r swallow much the may put in a tube. B/P 100/64 Stopped most meds. Strangely enough he fells little pain. Has some moments when he is very very clear, others when he is off in his own space. This long week end everyone(Thank God) was off and they all came and spent some time with him. So many people stopped and said they were praying and that they read somethings on the net. Life is full of suprises. I thank all of you for the prayers and support,it's like I'm here but not here. The hospice unit has 32 beds only about three empty and the people who work there are very special They are kind, caring, give hugs and talk like you are their special friend or family and do all the work. I have visited a hospice unit on two occassions but I was not touched by the disease at that time. It seems one in every 7 persons has some form of cancer. I just never realized this man eating demon had such a grasp on humanity and ow sometimes people lives change so rapidly and that the support from those who you never really met would mean so much because you share the same carnival ride. The roller coaster. Like the soldiers and sailors manning the front lines,I don't think you could survive without faith and the comfort of others. We have set up the hosital bed in the family room and the parapehnalia that goes with it. We are blessed by neighbors who care and that love and grace keep us going.
