Guest guest
I am a 46 year old male, 4 months post op left C2k resurf. I usually have been walking unassisted in the house but still use a cane outside. I had a SFCE 30 years ago, which left me with a limited ROM and and a limp for the past 32years. Since PT ended in mid November, I have been going to the gym pretty consistently 5 to 7 x per week. I took some time to build to this but now each visit normally consists of 1 hr. + of aerobic activity. Usually 30 min on the elliptical cross trainer and 30 minutes on treadmill and sometimes additionally 15 min or so on a nu-step (seated stepper) and 15 min on an exercise bike. Sunday I worked pretty hard at the gym. No problems during the workout. As the day wore on my hip and leg started to bother me, more so than it has since the surgery. I took a pain pill and went to bed. Monday I woke up and felt ok, no pain. Monday after work (desk type job), I went to the gym and figured I would take it wasy and only do 30 min on the cross trainer. During the exercise I felt fine and after I felt a little stiff. My hip bothered me a little Monday evening but nothing like Sunday. Tuesday I woke up and felt fine but as the day wore on, my hip started to bother me. I live in Florida and the weather was predicting a cold front. My hip has been bothering me most of the day, almost to the pre=op levels. As far as I can tell, I haven't done anything to it, fall etc. I have a great deal of atrophy that has occured over the last 30 years of limited use. I suspect the pain I am experiencing is due to the workout I have been giving my muscles lately in addition to the approaching change in weather but wanted to run it by some of you who have more experience with this than I. It has felt very good prior to Sunday. Weak but relatively pain free. I am a little concerned but want to be sure I should not be more concerned. So, are there any hippies out there that can relate to what I have stated? Any suggestions? At what point should I be concerned and go to see my OS. Any thoughts on the matter will be greatly appreciated. Regards, Andy Scrobola
