Guest guest
Hi melissa, it all depends on how you do afte surgery. My stays started at 6 days and the last 2 were 2 weeks each. STAY as long as you feel you need to, now me I say GET ME OUT OF HERE,ha,ha,ha,ha and they say NOPE Dawn your not going anywhere,ha,ha,ha,ha Im a TErrible patinet that way I just do not like hopisals at all, I am a creatuer of my own homes comforts and food. But really just do what they say and you iwll be fine. ITS good your having surgery soon you need to address the SM asap and you are, make usre you use adequate pain meds for pain, I always always have a pump beuase of my severe allergies to meds this way they always know the amounts Im getting and my family and freind(my brest freind here is a nurse) they are like HAWKS on the med thing and make sure I only get what THEY know I can take, we NEVER EVER EVER rely on the nureses to know that and Ive had some WONDERFUL nureses in the hospiatl but even theya re human and I think they apprecitae when you have people looking out for you, it makes their job easier too. Guest guest
Hi! Just wanted to thank those of you who wrote in and wished good luck! Her surgery went well! The device they used to close the ductus is a wire mesh made out of nickel and titanium. It sure is amazing the new things they come up. This was her third time around in closing her patent ductus. The first two times were done surgically and this last time the surgeon did not tie it off tight enough so it came undone! The Dr. told us this is very, very rare to have a ductus be repaired three times. Anyway, its all over with and only thing right now is a slight fever but we are keeping an eye on it. Again, I want to thank everyone for their prayers......Only thing now is we have to carry this patient identification card with us so just in case she would set of any alarms!!!!! LOL... Guest guest
Tia, Glad 's PDA repair went so well! It really is an amazing process, isn't it? We have to go back soon for to have an echocardiogram to make sure the scar tissue healed around the plug properly and everything is closed off. I'm hoping we get an " all clear " there so we don't continue to have to do the yearly echos or worry about antibiotics before surgeries, etc. We carry the ID card, too. Between 's PDA device and her cochlear implant, I'm thinking we're going to need to allow plenty of extra time getting her through airport security the first time she flies! :-) , mom to (4) --------------------------------- Yahoo!
