Guest guest
Hi...I'm a new member and I need a little info and help from you all. I am about 6.5 months post op (open RNY) and just found out that I'm pregnant. We were using birth controll but evidently it did't work. I have a history of miscarriages (7 in 10 years) but did manage to carry one child to term (Greg now 4). The only thing I did differently with my pregnancy with my son was to stay in bed for the first 3 months! I had recently quit my job as a teacher so I just too time off to nest and only got out of the bed to shower, eat, etc. Now with a 4 year old that isn't really possible. I'm terrified that I will miscarry again, but then again I am so afraid of being pregnant after WLS. I know other people have done it but I think they were further post op than I am. I called my WLS surgeon and he was not thrilled or supportive. He told me to call a nutritionist. I have so many fears here. I went through so much to have WLS and now I am afraid that it was all for nothing and I will loose that " window of opportunity " that I hear so much about. I have lost about 100 lbs with another 50 to go. I don't want to stop exercising and regain the weight but I don't want to exercise and loose the baby either! I just don't know what to do. The Reproductive Endocronologist that I was seeing has moved so I will have to start over with a new OB. Just the idea of setting up an appointment with someone new and relating my past infertility and recent surgery is daunting. Is there anyone out there that went through what I am facing? Just knowing I'm not alone would be helpful. If anyone can give me advice regarding miscarriages and post WLS that would also be helpful. Thanks so much (and sorry this is so long) Barbi
