If you decide you'll do the LID, and plan ahead what you'll eat, you really, really can do it. My own little secret is that I actually felt better while on the LID, possibly because I ate a lot of red meat, which I almost never do. > although I can't imagine starting until after > Christmas. First of all, it's no problem beginning the diet after Christmas; you'll still have plenty of time. Second of all - never, ever cancel birthday celebrations! Postpone them, maybe. Change them perhaps. Cancel? Never. Dining out will be tricky, but an at-home celebration is very doable. I'm sure someone can make you an impressive " ice cream " cake, using sorbet (presentation is everything). Then, you can have another celebration, dining out after the RAI, when you'll have a double reason to celebrate. And don't forget, that means double presents :-) - NYC BTW - if you do happen to stray from the diet for your birthday, all is not wasted. A strict week of LID will put you in good stead.
