Who is it best to receive > from? > > Pam > Hi, Pam - A Nuclear Medicine Dr, because they deal with the Radioactive iodine we are treated with, while a Radiation Oncologist works with the more traditional radiation therapy that other cancer patients receive. Most of us never see oncologists - which confuses people who hear you have cancer - my family's first question was whether I had an appointment with an oncologist. Your Endo should coordinate this for you with the hospital. Some Endos work directly with the Nuclear Med dept - others turn you over to them for this phase of the treatment.
