Hi Diann and anyone else interested in the oatmeal stuff. Someone posted

the oatmeal information about a month or so ago and had a whole routine with

oatmeal. I am still e group challenged so I don't know how you would go back

and find the old messages. I erased my old messages, darn! I started using

the Aveeno moisturizing cream and added the Aveeno moisturizing soap. I

only have to use Novacet (a topical sulfur cream) once a day. Previously, I

used it three or four times a day and had to take minocycline. I am off the

antibiotics. I wash my face with the soap in the morning, use the Novacet,

wait ten minutes and then use the Aveeno cream. The oatmeal soap is drying,

even though it says moisturizing but the cream seems to keep my skin

moisturized enough, and I live in a dry desert in Arizona. I use it around

my eyes too and it doesn't irritate them. Then I add a sunscreen. The

cream seems to protect me from any reaction to sunscreen. It definitely has

oatmeal in it and while it disappears on your skin, it leaves a matte look,

not shiny. I use it at night too but not the Novacet. My roceacea was the

type with small acne and flushing, so I can't guarantee it will work for

you. It is very cheap, about $7 for a 4 oz. jar of cream. I think the soap

is $3-4 and you can buy it at any American drugstore in the skincare aisle.

Whoever first posted this idea- thank you so much! Oatmeal rules!

To

Just read your message and would like to know what Aveeno products

you use and where to get them. Do you clean your face with oatmeal?

If so , what kind and how?

Thanks, Diann

You are fine, you are not sounding schizoid ! My boss is schizoid, I'll show

you schizoid !

You have to do what you need to do. It will come to you and you will feel

that it is right for you when it happens. So don't be feeling guilty about

anything. The VA needs to get moving and provide adequate and speedy relief.

No sense in aging in the process !

Pain treatment

Hello everyone. I hope the meetings in Indy went well.

So much has happened to me in the last few weeks. I am still on

Morphine Sulfate Slow Release (12 hrs) 15 mg twice a day. I also was

given 10 mg. Morphine instant release for break through pain. It has

worked okay but the 15 mg slow release is too low a dose and needs

adjusting. The doc wants me to have a Celiac Plexus Block. Not too

sure how I feel and think about that. Thinking it is worth a try.

My business life has had a few bumps in the road. Here is something

good though. Looks like one of my old (since 1999) money claims

against a company I used to do business with, will finally pay off

next month. If all works out, I'll have a couple of years of future

pay stored up. It looks that way too!

I can never give up on life. I am the luckiest guy in America! Every

time I think something is bad ... it turns out GREAT! Karma or

whatever. Who cares! It always seems good things happen to me.

PAIN TREATMENT INFORMATION:

I am dealing with a new company out of Dallas Texas called Madison

Pain Clinic. I gave up on the Veterans Hospital too soon. Anyway it

is not cheap. This clinic will have a nurse come to your house (blood

work) and have a doctor call you from the pain clinic. They offer six

months worth of pain meds like hydrocodone 15 mg. with none or only

30 mg of Tyelnol in each cap. This is for serious pain patients and

you cannot use them if any recreational drugs are found in your

system. It cost 299.00 for the doctor and nurse for the first six

months. (meds cost extra - hydro 15 mg. is 1.75 each) I'll let anyone

interested in them know how they treat me. I just saw the nurse last

Wednesday.

NOTE: I may not follow through with them because of a contract with

the pain clinic at the Veterans Hospital. I did sign a contract

saying I would only get my medication from one doctor. It is just

taking them so long to get me adequate pain treatment.

I sound schizoid.

My prayers are with you. Hang in there. Stay focused . You can do it. After

having five (?) kids, you can handle anything. Don't worry about

Thanksgiving, it is not going anywhere and it will be nice for a change for

you not to be busting your butt cooking. Take it easy after surgery

!!!!!!!!!

Keep us posted,

Wishing you the best, my prayers are with you,

Lily

Hey ! I've gotta tell ya, when I had my main bile duct

reconstructed, they opened up my entire abdomen, and it didn't even

come close to the pain I felt when I had my gallbladder removed. I

also had mine done laproscoptically (sp?). After I woke up from the

GB surgery, the pain was so excruitiating that I was screaming! The

nurse came over and brought me a warm water bottle to put on my

stomach to ease some of pain and she told me to try and pass as much

gas as I could. The reason for that is that when the docs go in

there with the scope, they pump your abdomen up with air in order to

get at the gallbladder, and that is what causes the pain. So, try to

remember that when they bring you into the recovery room. My surgeon

wasn't too enthusiastic about the percentage of getting better

either. They must know something they're not telling us. As far as

the jello is concerned, you really shouldn't put anything into your

mouth prior to surgery. You might want to just try some ice chips to

wet your whistle.

Well, good luck on Tuesday (your surgery's on Tuesday, right?)...and

as always, you'll be in my prayers.
