Guest guest
Not keen on prunes so I just eat a bowl of fiber one for breakfast one day and oatmeal the next. I used to get the instant oatmeal, but the quick cooking takes the same amount of time in the microwave and I just add a squirt of sugar free syrup or some splenda and cinnamon and get a lot more oatmeal for the same amount of calories as the instant stuff. And for some reason the bowl doesn't get as yucky. I think that we need to do whatever works for us as long as it is basically healthy with a good variety of foods. Though just because have opinions on certain foods is doesn't mean we are criticizing just giving our thoughts, heck if we all agreed on everything how boring would that be. Guest guest
Speaking of prunes...I am laughing at myself and a memory during my first pregnancy...I needed some fiber and h ad heard that prune juice would be helpful and healthy...not knowing any better I finished the whole bottle that morning figuring that if a little would help, why not a "little more"...well it worked...it last time I did that and haven't touched prune juice since... Guest guest
kathy, you mentioned the slow workings of our digestive systems. is it a good idea to add a fiber supplement? i saw that fibercon has pills (i seriously doubt that i could get one of those drinks down lol). i do believe my 'system' is slow. when i was on the generic t4 (which my body just doesnt function at all on) i had this terrible reflux, so bad that i couldnt swallow food most of the time. i was so scared that i was going to choke to death, i swear. i was scheduled for an endoscopy, but when i switched back to synthroid the problem literally vanished. i remembering seeing in an earlier post that with stuff kinda sitting around in there you produce extra acid to break it all down, so it makes sense. any suggestions on brands or amounts of the fiber stuff? > Optifast is a medically supervised fasting program > that lasts for 6 months. We aren't like alcoholics who can totally avoid the > intake of alcoholic beverages. We have to eat to > live, but what we eat is processed so well because it > stays in our digestive system longer. > > __________________________________________________ >
